Primary amyloid myelopathy constitutes an uncommon neurological disorder characterized by the accumulation of amyloid proteins in the spinal cord. This progressive condition typically manifests with progressive sensory disturbance in the limbs, often accompanied by loss of coordination. In this case report, we present a patient with primary amyloid myelopathy who presented featuring an unusual clinical presentation.
The individual's initial symptoms included severe weakness in the upper extremities, along and frequency and urgency of urination. A lumbar puncture revealed elevated protein levels consistent with amyloid deposits. Brain imaging demonstrated characteristic lesions in the spinal cord consistent with primary amyloid myelopathy.
The treatment plan included supportive care, including physical therapy and medications to manage symptoms. Nevertheless treatment, the patient's condition progressed steadily. This case highlights the importance of considering primary amyloid myelopathy in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with progressive neurological symptoms, particularly those with unilateral weakness.
An Uncommon Presentation of Crohn's Disease: A Case Report
We report a rare case of Crohn's disease in a 28-year-old male presenting with novel symptoms. The patient initially presented signs of fatigue, which were mistaken for a common gastrointestinaldisorder. Further investigation revealed crohn's disease. The patient was treated with conventional treatment for Crohn's disease, including steroids. The outcome to treatment was favorable.
This case demonstrates the importance of a detailed history in patients with suspected Crohn's disease, as its presentation can be diverse.
Findings
A male/female patient presented to the clinic with a chief complaint/history of symptoms/presenting concern of progressive shortness of breath, cough/dyspnea/respiratory distress. The patient reported a gradual/sudden/insidious onset of symptoms/complaints/manifestations, worsening over the past few months/year/decade. On physical examination, auscultation/palpation/inspection revealed decreased breath sounds in the lower/upper/bilateral lung fields.
Further/Additional/Supplementary investigations included a chest X-ray which demonstrated diffuse/patchy/interstitial opacities consistent with pulmonary fibrosis. A high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scan of the chest confirmed the diagnosis, revealing honeycombing/fibrotic bands/reticular opacities.
The patient underwent further tests/evaluation/assessments to rule out other potential causes/contributing factors/underlying conditions of pulmonary fibrosis.
